Gladiolus “The flower of gladiators”

In ancient Rome, gladiators were honoured with Gladioli after victory a flower that came to embody strength, moral integrity, and quiet courage.

Each stem tells its own story, opening slowly from base to tip, revealing new blooms each day a graceful unfolding that lends the Gladiolus its long, sculptural presence in the vase.

Artists, too, have found inspiration in its rhythm and light; Claude Monet painted their rising form and luminous colour in his Giverny garden.
Across cultures and centuries, the Gladiolus remains an emblem of remembrance — a symbol of sincerity, honour, and enduring affection.

DETAILS

All stems are cut to order at the grower, ensuring they arrive as fresh as possible. All stems are cut to order by the grower, ensuring they arrive as fresh as possible. Choose a tall, narrow vase to give the smooth, hollow stems extra support.

Please note, if adding a vase to your delivery your items may arrive separately.

The stem is a 95cm tall stem (measurement approximate).

Delivery note:
Your Gladiolus stems are cut fresh to order and sent without a vase unless one has been selected as part of your order.

If a vase or gift set has been purchased, it may arrive separately.

1. Unwrap
Gently release the tall stems from their paper wrap — their blooms are tender, their poise easily bruised.

2. Prepare the stems
Trim each stem cleanly at an angle and place them in cool water. Remove any foliage that may sit below the waterline to keep the vase clear and pure.

3. The right vessel
Choose a tall, steady vase — Gladioli stand proud and elegant when supported, their blooms opening one by one like a slow symphony of light.

4. Placement and presence
Keep them in a cool, bright space away from direct heat or fruit. With care, they’ll bloom upward in graceful sequence — a living column of colour and calm.
